Sylvester Barron of Morningside, Sioux City Expires at the Age of 76 years.

Death claimed a long-time resident of Iowa when Sylvester Barron, Jr., 3023 Dodge avenue Wednesday morning.

Born in Ireland, Mr. Barron, Came to America with his parents at the age of 4 years. The family went from New York to Canada where his father died. The mother and her family came to Iowa, settling in Monroe county, Lovilia, Ia., 54 years ago and Mr. Barron resided in the state until the time of his death.

In 1876, he was united in marriage with Margaret Fitzgerald and 11 children were born to this union, five of whom survive. They are; John 1206 Twenty-fourth street; Ignatious V. of Leeds; Syslvester, Jr., 3023 Dodge avenue; Mrs. H. F. Bruce, 2122 Olive street and Mrs. Clarence Rich of Dean, Mont.; all of the children were at the bedside when the father’s death occurred. Beside his five children, he leaves 16 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Funeral services were held at the Immaculate Conception church at 9 o’clock Friday morning. His nephew, Rev. E. W. Barron of Brooklyn, Iowa read Requiem High Mass, Rev. Father Murphy delivered the sermon and performed the last rites at the grave in Mt. Calvary cemetery.

Besides his wife and children, he leaves many relatives and friends to mourn his passing.

Relatives from a distance who attended the funeral were Philip and James Barron and Mike Fitzgerald of Lovilia, Rev. E. W. Barron of Brooklyn, Mrs. W. S. Scieszinski, Mrs. John Luttrell of Melrose and Sister M. Isabel and Sister M. Clementine of Dubuque – Sioux City Journal—
