Pamela “Pam” Joyce Dunbar, 77, of Whiting, Iowa, passed away Sunday, February 11, 2024, at Pleasant View Care Center, Whiting, Iowa.

A memorial service will be 1:00 P.M. Friday, February 16, 2024, at the Goslar Funeral Home Chapel, Onawa, Iowa, with Jeff Thelander, officiating. A live stream of the service will be posted on the Goslar Funeral Home website with Pam’s obituary. Burial will follow in the Harrison Cemetery, Whiting, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.

Pamela Joyce was born November 21, 1946, in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Leroy and Genevieve (Quintard) Baker. Pam grew up in Whiting, Iowa, and graduated from Whiting High School in 1965. She was an excellent student and took education seriously. After high school, she attended Wayne State College and graduated in 1968 with her teaching degree.

Pam and Norman Dunbar were united in marriage on June 7, 1968, in Whiting, Iowa.

She taught in Hinton for three years and Whiting for twenty-five years. Pam truly loved teaching and making a difference in those she had taught over the years.

Pam enjoyed reading and remodeling/refinishing furniture. She loved to spend time with family, especially her grandchildren.

Survivors include her loving husband of fifty-five years, Norman Dunbar of Whiting, Iowa; children, Matt Dunbar of Sioux City, Iowa, and Elizabeth (Charles Harrold) Dunbar of Laurens, Iowa; grandchildren, Catherine (Christopher) Birk of Spokane, Washington, Grace Dunbar of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Isaiah Dunbar of Laurens, Iowa; great-grandchild, whom she was looking forward to meeting in June of 2024; brother, Brad (Nancy) Baker of Joplin, Missouri; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Leroy and Genevieve (Quintard) Baker.
