Mary E. Steepy, 92, of Whiting, Iowa, formerly of Sioux City, died Thursday, April 19, 2001 at Pleasant View Care Center in Whiting.

Graveside services will be 3 p.m. Monday at Calvary Cemetery in Sioux City. Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in charge of arrangements. There will be no visitation.

Mrs. Steepy was born March 22, 1909, in Walthill, Neb., the daughter of John and Catherine (O'Brien) Conner. She married Edward W. Steepy in 1947 in Sioux City. He died Nov. 1, 1966, in Los Angeles, Calif.

She had resided in the Los Angeles area for several years prior to moving back to the Sioux City area in the early 1990s. She was owner/operator of Ann's Beauty Shop for several years. She enjoyed sewing and quilting.

Survivors include a sister, Laura Christy of Lawton, Iowa; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Florence Conner of Dakota City, Neb.; and several nieces and nephews.

She also was preceded in death by a son, Emmett; three brothers, Jim, Burt and Lee Conner; and two sisters. Rose Gary and Ida Ball.
