LOCATION: Castana, IowaKathy Deanne Nichols, 59, of Castana, Iowa, passed away at her home on Thursday, April 12, 2018, with family by her side.
A celebration of life service will be held 10:30 A.M. Saturday, April 21, 2018, at the First Christian Church in Onawa, Iowa, with Pastor Michael Lewis officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service in Onawa.
Kathy Deanne was born on May 18, 1958, in Cherokee, Iowa, to Francis Albert and Frances Lorraine (Scott) Mackey. She grew up and attended school in Akron. Later, she completed accounting courses through the Arizona Institute of Business and Technology.
She worked for the Rainbow Amusements traveling carnival based out of Lincoln, Nebraska for eight years, and as a waitress and cashier for Janz Café in Onawa.
Kathy enjoyed reading, making and selling jewelry, watching the television show Fixer Upper, and collecting snowmen, wolves, and Coca-Cola memorabilia. She had a very giving spirit, and a great love for children. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Onawa.
Survivors include her siblings, James and wife Randi Mackey of Le Mars, IA, Ron and wife Sandi Mackey of Casa Grande, AZ, Julie Moriston of Sioux City, IA, Cynthia and husband Jerry Osterholt of Castana, IA, and Steven and wife Teri Mackey of Sioux City, IA; sister-in-law, Cora Mackey of Akron, IA; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Frances Mackey; and one brother, Douglas Mackey.
