Also; Stephen Oliver Hammer is listed on the Washington State Death Index 1940-1996
died 15 Nov 1965; Spokane City, WA
certificate # 024531
If this is your Stephen O Hammer, I would send for the death certificate and hope that the person giving the information gave correct and full information! If not, at least the WW I Draft Registration would give his birth date as given by himself. He isnot on the SS Death Index and may not have had a SS #. But if you know he did, I would write to the SS Admin for a copy of his SS# application.. Again information would be provided by him and not another.
