Dr. J. C. Gable Dies at Age 77

Woodward, IA.—Dr. John C. Gable, 77, former member of the Woodward state hospital staff, died of a heart ailment Wednesday in his home here.

Born in Darlington, Wis., Dr. Gable attended Bayless college at Dubuque, received a degree in dentistry at Iowa university at Iowa City and a medical degree at Chicago (Ill.) Medical college.

He practiced dentistry in Iowa until 1921, when illness forced him to leave the practice. He then sold pharmaceutical supplies until 1939, and later became a member of the state hospital staff.

Poor health prompted his resignation in 1950.

Dr. Gable was a Mason, a member of state and county medical societies and of Woodward Methodist church.

Surviving are his wife, Dr. Grace M. Sawyer, acting superintendent at the state hospital, a son, M/Sgt. John B. Gable, Bryon, Tex., and three grandchildren.
