Charles Della Vecchia, 68, of Winterset died Tuesday, March 13, 2019 at his sister’s home near Winterset.

There are no services planned at this time. Memorials may be directed to the family.

Charles Edward Della Vecchia, son of Louis and Kathryn (Orth) Della Vecchia, was born July 14, 1950 in Chester, Pennsylvania. The family moved to Florida and he graduated from Miami Senior High in Coral Gables, Florida. Charlie enlisted in the Navy after high school and served in Vietnam from 1970 to 1973 earning multiple services medals before being honorably discharged. He was united in marriage with Carol Lindabury and three children were born to this union. Charles was later united in marriage with Denise Darville and one child was born to this union.

Charlie was very handy and operated his own carpentry business for most of his working career. He enjoyed fishing with his father early in life. He developed a passion for bowling and traveled on a few bowling tours in his prime. Charlie enjoyed being in the moment and cherished spending time with his family and friends.

Charlie is survived by his wife, Denise Darville Della Vecchia of Virginia Beach, VA; four children, Billy (Kisha) Della Vecchia of Tennessee; Steven Della Vecchia of Nebraska; Tracy Della Vecchia of Florida; Louis Della Vecchia of Virginia; two step-daughters, Sumer and Nicki Darville; six grandchildren; a sister, Kathryn (Oliver) Russell of Winterset; extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Louis and Kathryn Della Vecchia; and a brother, Louis Della Vecchia, Jr.
