JOHN SCHNELLBARGER DIED WEDNESDAY EVENING

Word was received in Meade Wednesday night that John Schnellbarger of north of Meade, was found dead on the back porch of his home by his daughter, Rhoda, about 7 o'clock Wednesday evening. Mr. Schnellbarger was 86 years of age and had been in ill health for some time, having suffered two strokes recently.

JOHN SCHNELLBARGER

John Schnellbarger was born in the state of Ohio in 1854 and passed away at his home north of Meade, Kansas July 25, 1940.

At the age of four years he moved to Kansas with his parents and has been a resident of the state until his death. He moved to Meade county in 1903 where he engaged in farming and stock raising.

He had been in poor health years prior to his death but was always uncomplaining and cheerful in the face of illness and adversity.

Funeral services were conducted at the Schnellbarger home north of Meade on Sunday, July 28th and interment was made in Graceland cemetery at Meade. He leaves to mourn him, two daughters, Rhoda and Sarah, the brother Theodore and one grand daughter, Rachell.

Transcriber's notes: Transcribed as published, the deceased's surname is "Schnellbacher" per his gravestone. He and the rest of the family were in the Madison County censuses from 1856 through 1870.
