Mervin D., son of George A. and Olga Jensen Wells was born June 5, 1916, near Winterset, Iowa and passed away suddenly on Sunday July 2, 1995, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines following surgery.

At the age of three years, Mervin and his family moved to the rural Dexter area where he attended the Dexter Public Schools. On June 28, 1942, he was united in marriage with Betty E. Neal and to this union two children, Vincent and Patricia, were born. Mervin and his family were engaged in farming in the Dexter area for many years and he remained active on the farm until his death. Fifty golden years were celebrated by Mervin and Betty on June 28, 1992.

Mervin was an Army veteran of WWII. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and was active in the Dexter American Legion Post. He was a loving father and grandfather, and he especially enjoyed spending time with his three grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.

Mervin was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers: Gerald Wells, Russell Wells, and Glenn Wells, and a sister, Dorothy Lanning.

He leaves to mourn his passing, wife Betty of Dexter, son Vince and his wife Audrey of Dexter, daughter Patty McKee and husband Dave of Omaha, three grandchildren, Wendy Wells of Olathe, Kansas, Jeremy Wells of Des Moines, and Joshua Wells of Dexter; other relatives, and many friends.

Interment in Dexter Cemetery.
