Huele Danny Thompson, a pioneer of this county, died at his home in Letts Thursday after an illness of several weeks. He was 73 years of age and had always been an exemplary citizen. His wife and one child survive him.

Letts. The funeral of Daniel Thompson who died at his home last Friday morning, was held Monday from the M. E. church conducted by Rev. Montgomery assisted by Rev. Childress of the U. B. church; interment in the Letts cemetery. A large and sympathetic audience was present and a large crowd followed the remains to its last resting place. Peace to his sleeping ashes.

Mrs. Thompson of Letts
Letts, Ia., March 6. — Mrs. Thompson, a pioneer resident of this locality, passed away at her home here this morning at 5 o ’clock. Her death followed an illness of months. Early in the winter she contracted a severe cold which brought on a complication or diseases resulting in her death. She was a native of North Carolina being born on March 29, 1846. The family came to Iowa in 1857 and located near Letts. In 1867 she was united in marriage to Remine Knott, three children blessing the union. Of these, Mrs. Belle Barnett of Letts is the only survivor. Following the death of her first husband in 1878, she was united in marriage to Daniel Thompson in 1881. His death occurred in 1904. Mrs. Thompson moved to this place from a farm in 1899. One sister, Mrs. Ella Eade of Muscatine, mourns her demise. The funeral will be held on Tuesday at 2 o’clock from the Methodist church here.
