By the death of George W. Kuder, which occurred at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Art Rasley, in Cedar Rapids, Saturday evening last, Louisa county lost one of her earliest and best known citizens. We think Mr. Kuder was born in Ohio about ninety year ago. He came from Ross county, that state in 1849. At that time he was a young man about twenty-five years of age and had been a contractor on the Ohio canal. He settled on what is known as the Old Kuder Place, near Phillips Hill in Grandview township and which was his home until fifteen years ago when business reasons compelled him to dispose of it. Since then he has been with his children, the last year with the daughter at whose home he died.

He was married three times. His first wife was a Thompson, his second a Crawford and this third, an Eberson. The latter survives him and lives with a son in Spokane, Washington. Eight children survive him. These are widely scattered, the only one living in Louisa county is Franc, the wife of ? Thompson, of Grandview township with whom Mr. Kuder has spent much of his time the past few years. The body was brought back from Cedar Rapids Tuesday morning and laid to rest in his lot in the Indian Creek cemetery beneath a cedar of his own planting. The children who were present at his funeral besides Mrs. Rasley and Mrs. Thompson were a son, Guy, from Chicago and another daughter, Mrs. McGill of Davenport.
