Harriet Williams Darrow was born in Summit county, Ohio, March 6, 1812. She died at the home of her son in Oklahoma, December 9, 1905. She was married at the age of 20 to George Darrow and with him and family came to Iowa in 1840. With the exception of the past two years spent with her son, A. Darrow, in Canadian county, Oklahoma, this vicinity continued to be her home. Her husband died while in the service of his country in 1862 and was buried at LaGrange Tennessee. A son, Milton died in the service about the same time and was buried in Georgia. Of the twelve children borne by her, all save three sons are dead. The living are Augustus of Oklahoma and D. H. and Dr. Frank L, of this place. Dr. W. H,. Darrow, well known all over this part of the state died eleven years ago.

Mrs. Darrow was at the time of her death and had been for a great meany years, a member of the Christian church at Columbus City. Mrs. Darrow was a good woman, she will be greatly missed by all who knew her. The remains arrived at this place Tuesday morning accompanied by the son at whose home she died. The funeral took place from the Methodist church at 10 o'clock, Wednesday, December 13, conducted by Rev. J. C. Kendrick. Interment followed in the Columbus City cemetery.
