Mary Frances Crum was born in Cass county, Ill., July 27, 1842. At the age of five years she removed with her parents to Louisa county, Iowa where she grew to womanhood. She was married to J. M. Crum on the 14 of February, 1865. She was the mother of 3 children, one son who survives her and two daughters who have preceded her to the better land. In 1868 she was converted and with her husband united with the United Brethen church. Since that time she has lived in the faith of Christ. The 23rd day of October, 1912, she passed away at the age of 70 years, 2 months and 29 days.
She leaves to mourn her death her husband, one son, four sisters and two brothers. The sisters are Mrs. W. H. Hoopes, Muscatine; Mrs. J. L. Harvey of Seward, Nebraska; Mrs. J. T. Weber, Spokane, Washington; and Mrs. E. R. Lacy of Columbus Junction.
She died in good standing as a member of the Congregational church of Newton, Kansas. The remains were brought to Letts, to the home of Mrs. Manda Thompson where the funeral service was held, Friday, Oct. 25, conducted by the U. B. pastor here, Rev. C. H. Berry.
