The Marion Weekly Sentinel Thursday February 27, 1919
Death of Mrs. Cornelius Bunting
Myra Benham, daughter of William Benham, was born in the vicinity of Marion, April 1, 1857, and passed away at her home in this city, February 22, 1919. She was married December 29, 1876 to Cornelius Bunting, who with one daughter, Marie, survive her. Two brothers, Joseph Benham, of Willston, N.D., and William Benham of Marion, and two sisters, Mrs. Frances Wells, of New York City, and Mrs. Catherine Mann, of Omaha, Neb., besides many other relatives and a large circle of friends are left to mourn her departure.
She possessed a cheerful, uncomplaining disposition, always looking on the bright side of things, was patient in suffering, her thought being for others, and her spirit of sympathy and charity enabled her to see all that was good in everyone. Impaired health deprived her of many activities outside the home, where her chief enjoyment was centered and where she was greatly beloved, but she also loved the associations of her church and her club, both of which she was a member for many years. She was converted in early life and united with the M.E. church, remaining faithful to it "till called to join those who have gone before".
Funeral services which were largely attended, were held at the family home on East Tenth avenue, at 2:30 p.m., Monday, February 24. The services were conducted by Rev. A.H. Hanscom. A mixed quartet, consisting of C. Kerns, Miss Marguerite Sutherland, Miss Mildred Titus and Mr. W.B. Sebern furnished music. Interment was made in Oakshade cemetery.
