Former Keokuk Woman Passed
Away on the Fifty-eighth Anniversary
of Her Wedding.

Of the death of Mrs. Angelina Root, widow of the late Col. Richard Root, former Keokuk postmaster and prominent Citizen, who for many years was a citizen of this city and well known here, a Washington newspaper of last week said:
"Mrs. Angelina P. Brockman Root, widow of Col. Richard Root, formerly assistant sergeant-at-arms of the senate, died Saturday night in her apartments at the Kenesaw, on her fifty-eighth wedding anniversary.
Mrs. Root was born in Oglethorpe, Ga., January 11, 1839, and was a daughter of the late Moses C. Brockman and Penelope Bunch. Until twenty years ago Colonel Root was United States marshal of Iowa. He served through the Civil war in the Nineteenth Iowa infantry and the Eighteenth Iowa cavalry.
