I think Dr. Bill Smith has more accurate info. I don't know about Asenath Garwood...our William Preston married Asenath Butler in 1820 in OH. He died in OH in 1837. You can find Asenath Preston in 1840 Census there. She married Asa Thomas, shows up in 1850 census still in OH. By 1860 they were living in IA, Jones County. There probably were several William Preston's, maybe even related to each other.
Our Wm. Preston had a son William or Charles William, but he never moved to IA.
