Mr & Mrs Steve Story have restored Pleasant Valley Cem. in Jackson Twp., Jones Co., IA. They then researched everyone in this cemetery. Below is what they found regarding Daniel Colby:

died 4/19/1875 Age 67 yr. 5 mo 3 days
Daniel was in IA in Madison Twp., Jones Co. in 1856. Records say he probably came in 1855.

1856 state census (children b NY)
Daniel 47 b Maine
Abagail 45 b NY
David 15
Albert 10
George 7
Edwin 4

1860 Federal census shows same family
1870 Federal census shows same family but except David & Albert not living at home. Edwin now has wife, Victoria with him.
1880 Federal Census Platte, Hamilton Co., NE shows this family (without Daniel and Albert)

2/27/1861, David married Ellen Jane Cunningham

9/22/1869 C. E.(Edwin) Colby married Victoria Streeter, the dau of John M and Elizabeth Devoe
Streeter.

10/31/1871 George Colby married Addie Stivers

Probate Record #65 -AD 1, 65 Daniel Colby - est. James Stivers
