MONTICELLO - Funeral services for Emmund P. Wilken, 43, were held at 1:30 p.m. March 16 at Wayne Zion Lutheran church, rural Monticello. The Rev. Luther Wacholz officiated. Burial was in the Wayne Zion cemetery.

Mr. Wilken died Friday, March 11 in California of asphyxiation from smoke inhalation during a house fire.

Born March 16, 1922 at Monticello, he was the son of John B. and Emma Prabel Wilken. He was reared in the Langworthy community and lived in this area until moving to California a year ago. He attended the Jones county schools and was a member of the Wayne Zion Lutheran church.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Lawrence.

Survivors include eight children: Grant, Gaylan, Laurel, Diane, Dennis, Sharon, Sheryl and Jill; the children's mother, Mrs. Phyllis Wilken; one brother Ervin Wilken, Anamosa; two sisters, Mrs. August Dirks and Mrs. George Folkerts, both of Monticello.

Pallbearers were Robert Gerdes, Gerke Hanken, Donald Arduser, Raymond Buol, Raymond Poppe and Learow Tobiason.
