OXFORD JUNCTION - Last rites were held Saturday morning from the Sacred Heart church for William Quirk, sr., 85, who died at his home one mile west of Oxford Junction Wednesday evening, April 24 at 9:20. Rev. Joseph Gregor conducted the service. Those serving as pallbearers were Ray Minich and Tom Burg, Chicago; T. J. Scanlon and Roy Scanlon, Lost Nation; John Keohoe, Monticello, and Charles Quirk, Oxford Junction. Interment was in the St. James cemetery, Toronto.

William Quirk was born at Peterboro, Ontario, Canada, Jan. 3, 1861, son of James and Johanna Quirk. He came to the states when he was nine years old and had lived at his farm home for the last 65 years. He was united in marriage to Nellie Scanlon April 27, 1892. Seven children were born to this union, four of whom died in infancy. Mrs. Quirk died in 1915. Three children survive, two sons, William and Joseph, at home, and Mrs. J. L. Stowers, Oxford Junction, also five grandchildren, Ellen and Mary Ann Stowers, Mrs. L. P. Hansen and Mrs. Marjorie Keegan, Oxford Junction, and Joseph Lee Stowers, Fireman second class, in the south Pacific, and one great granddaughter, LeElyn Hansen.
