MONTICELLO - Funeral service for Archie Bender, 48, guard at the men's reformatory in Anamosa, was held Monday afternoon at the Goettsch funeral home in Monticello with burial at Oakwood cemetery. Mr. Bender died of an attack of heart disease Saturday morning at his home in Monticello.

He was born Nov. 8, 1897, at Wyoming, Ia.

Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Leamon Scott, Monticello; two sisters, Mrs. Everett Vrooman, Wyoming, and Mrs. Oliver Bender, Cedar Rapids; and a brother, John Bender, Tipton.
