April 27, 1964 - The Anamosa Journal

Mrs. Ruth E. Yount, 66, Anamosa, died Thursday, April 23, at Mercy hospital, Cedar Rapids, following a lingering illness.

Funeral services were held Saturday, April 25, at 2 p.m., at the Goettsch Funeral home, Anamosa. Rev. Charles R. Landon conducted the service. Burial was in Riverside cemetery.

Pallbearers included Albert Ament, Charles Tyler, Richard Nickels, James W. Peet, Robert Peet and Harold Hartman.

She was born Jan. 5, 1898, daughter of Don A. Downing and Jane Ann Leech, Galesburg, Ill. She had lived her married life in Anamosa. She had worked at Ament's store, Anamosa, for the last 17 years.

She was a member of Mt. Moriah chapter Order of Eastern Star and the Baptist church, Anamosa.

Survivors include two daughters, Betty, Mrs. Jay Levsen, Oelwein; and Ruth Ann, Mrs. Gordon Baker, Garden Grove, Calif.; one sister, Mrs. Marvin Westphal, Maquoketa; and nine grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, William in 1947; two sisters and one brother.
