27 April 1905 - West Branch Times

Mrs. Elizabeth Stagg, a pioneer resident of Scott township, Johnson county, passed away at her home, seven miles east of this city, at 1:45 Saturday morning. She had been ill for the past two years and had been bedfast for six months. The immediate cause of her death was paralysis. At the time of her death she had reached the age of seventy-one, having lived her allotted time of life.

Mrs. Stagg came to this country from England in 1852, and in her long life has made many friends who will join with the sorrowing family in their great loss. The sadness is, however, softened by the fact of a life of work well and faithfully done.

Five children mourn the loss of their mother. Of the three sons, Samuel T. lives in Alabama, George J. in Pleasant Valley and Frank H. in Scott; two daughters, Rosa and Bessie lived at home with their mother.

The funeral was held at one-thirty from the late home and the interment was made in the cemetery of this city.--Citizen
