MRS. JONATHAN MARNER
Passed Away at Her Home in Sharon Township Last Friday

Mrs. Jonathan Marner, who succumbed after several weeks of illness was buried Sunday afternoon. The funeral was held at the house at 2 p.m. and was conducted by the pastor of the Amish church of which the deceased was a member. Death came last Friday afternoon after a rather long period of illness.
Mrs. Marner was seventy years old having lived since 1866 at the home of the family in Sharon township. Her maiden name was Elizabeth Penrod and she was married on January 27, 1853, to Jonathan Marner. Mr. and Mrs. Marner were the parents of eleven children, eight of whom survive their mother. Her husband is also living. Mrs. Marner was ever a kindly dispositioned old lady and during her long residence in Sharon township she came to be held in the highest esteem by all of her neighbors. The following are the children and their places of residence: Dr. G. P. Marner of Marion, Kansas; Dr. W. A. Marner of Miles, Iowa; Isaac J. of Sharon township; Attorney J.G. Marner of Iowa City; Elizabeth Goodman of Cheney, Kansas; Sarah and Malinda Marner of Iowa City and Susie of Sharon township.
