Charles Strickler Taken In Death Saturday Noon

Charles Elias Strickler was born in Sharon Township, Johnson County, Iowa on May 26, 1881 and passed away in the Mercy hospital Iowa City Saturday, June 2 at the age of 64 years. His death was the result of injuries received in a car-truck collision in Kalona Wednesday morning on Highway 22.
He was the only son of Elias and Amelia (Zager) Strickler. He is survived by one sister, Minnie Rachel Grout of Tingley, Iowa. Preceding him in death was his parents and two sisters, Lillian Troyer and Elizabeth Miller.
He attended Sharon schools and later Highland Park Business College in Des Moines, Iowa.
His first position was as a telegrapher at Oxford, Iowa and later he worked in Colorado for a number of years. At one time he worked for the Rock Island and managed the first railroad eating house at Silvis, Illinois. He later came to Kalona and became widely known as an electrician.
Mr. Strickler was a member of the Sharon Evangelical Church and was a member of Richmond Lodge No. 96, Kalona, Iowa.
He leaves to mourn a number of relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Yoder Funeral Home conducted by Rev. C. V. Fox of the Christian church. Burial was at the Sharon Evangelical cemetery.
