Death Takes Dale HARPER

Dale J. HARPER, 66, native of Fairfield, died this morning at his home, 50 N. Park. His death followed a lengthy illness.

Memorial services will be held Monday at 4 p.m. at the United Methodist Church with the Rev. Wayne Bartruff officiating. His body has been willed to the University Hospital in Iowa City.

The Raymond Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for the services.

Dale J. HARPER was born Nov. 14, 1909, in Fairfield. He was the son of Alphonso K. and Beatrice BROWN HARPER. He was reared and educated in Fairfield, attended Parsons College and graduated from Stanford University at Palo Alto, Calif.

He was united in marriage June 17, 1933, to Dorothy SIMMONS at West Liberty.

They had made their home in California for 25 years where he was in business, and taught business in the Porterville High School. He also served as lay minister in the United Methodist Church.

He was a member of the church, a member of the Lions Club, California Teachers Association and National Association of Retired Teachers.

Mr. and Mrs. HARPER moved back to Fairfield about six months ago and purchased the C.W. Bradshaw home where they have made their home since. Dale HARPER was a senior partner in the Harper Brush Co., a Fairfield industrial firm founded by his father in 1900.

In addition to his widow, he is survived by four children: Daniel, Santa Cruz, Calif.; Mrs. Eugene RICE, Stockton, Calif.; Mrs. Hal REED, Northridge, Calif.; and John, Placerville, Calif.

He is also survived by eight grandchidlren and one sister, Mrs. M.K. LONG, Fairfield.

HARPER was preceded in death by one brother, Paul.

Members of the Fairfield Lions Club will meet at the United Methodist Church at 3:30 p.m. Monday to attend the services.
