Helen I. DROZ

Helen I. DROZ, 88, 807 W. Taylor Ave., died at 5:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, 1998, at Nelson Nursing Home.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Behner Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenneth Royar officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church or Nelson Nursing Home. Family visitation will be 6:30-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. DROZ was born Dec. 22, 1909, in Iroquois County, Ill., the daughter of Roy and Maude METZ HIX. She married Harley L. DROZ April 5, 1930, in Fairfield. He died March 25, 1980.

Mrs. DROZ lived in the Fairfield community since 1932 with her previous residence in Milford, Ill., and Stockport. Before her retirement, she was a seamstress, worked at O'Grady Cleaners and the Handy Pantry, and owned and operated the Droz Popcorn Stand on the Fairfield square.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Church Women, Guild Circle and the local board of the American Cancer Society.

Survivors include one daughter, Margaret L. BERG of Fairfield; two sons, Roger K. DROZ of Burlington and Douglas A. DROZ of Kamiah, Idaho; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Kenneth L. HIX of Washington, Iowa; and one sister, Hazel A. HIX of Fairfield.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Glen Raymond, and two brothers, Clyde and Verne HIX.
