Mrs. MAHAFFEY Died Sunday

Word has been received here of the death at Cincinnati, Ohio, Sunday, of Mrs. Pauline MAHAFFEY, 52, of Ottumwa. Death occurred at St. Francis hospital in Cincinnati, where she had been visiting her son, Leonard, and two sisters.

She was the daughter of the late Matt and Mary KNOPP, and while she was born April 16, 1900, in Chicago, lived for many years in the vicinity of Pleasant Plain. Besides the son, Leonard MAHAFFEY (sic - Leonard BANACH by birth, son of Pauline and Frank J. BANACH), she is survived by three sisters, Mrs. L. R. GREENFIELD of Fairfield, and Mrs. W. A. MacKINNON and Mrs. Harold SCHOO, both of Cincinnati; two brothers, Clarence of Gary, S.D. and Leonard, who is with the merchant marine in Japan.

The body will arrive in Ottumwa today, and will be at the Vaughn funeral home. Rosary will be held Friday when the Requiem High Mass will be sung at 9 a.m. in the Sacred Heart church at Ottumwa, with Father Leonard Brugman in charge.

Note: Burial was in the Ottumwa Cemetery, Ottumwa, Wapello Co., IA. She was divorced in 1936 from Frank BANACH, who she married in Jefferson County, IA, in 1919. Pauline is indirectly related to me in that her first husband Frank is my maternal great-grandmother's brother.
