Melinda S (Meyer) Housley

Melinda S. Housley, 65, of Newton passed away with her husband by her side on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at her home. A celebration of life will be held from 5-7 p.m., Friday, March 15, 2024, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory in Newton. Memorials in Melinda’s name may be directed to St Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Melinda, the daughter of Harold and Arlene (Simbro) Meyer, was born January 4, 1959, in Newton. On December 12, 1997, Melinda was united in marriage to Mark Housley in Cherokee, Iowa. Professionally, Melinda had worked in the billing department at Skiff Medical Center and started a tanning and fitness business called Body Beautiful. Melinda enjoyed her life as a wife, mother, and grandmother. She spoiled her grandkids and looked forward to family get togethers. Melinda also loved playing slot machines, doing crafts, and tending to her flowers. She was loved by everyone who knew her and will be greatly missed.

Those left to honor Melinda’s memory include her husband, Mark Housley of Newton; her son, Brian (Justine) Davis of Bondurant; 3 grandchildren, Sam, Parker, and Elsie; her brothers, Arden Meyer of Newton, Randy (Diane) Meyer of Newton, Robby Hicks of Marshalltown; sister, Alta (Jim) Hendershott of State Center; her puppy, Jake; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Leroy Meyer, Harold Meyer Jr., Brian Meyer, and Jeff Meyer; and her sisters, Helen Meyer, Karen Heck, and Harriett Allspach.
