Veldhuizen, Wilma – 1922-2017

Wilma Veldhuizen, 94, died July 12, 2017, at Jefferson Place in Pella. Funeral services were at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 15, at Garden Chapel Funeral Home in Pella. Memorials have been designated for Hospice of Pella and Lake View Camp. Interment was in Dairy Grove (Bethany) Cemetery near Sully.
Wilma was born Nov. 11, 1922, on the family farm west of Taintor to John and Johanna (Vande Hoef) Veldhuizen.
Wilma attended school at the Granville Country School near Taintor through eighth grade. She worked at the egg house in Pella, where she candled eggs. Later, Wilma worked for Rolscreen and helped in the food service department at the school in Sully. Wilma always lived on the family farm until she moved into Fair Haven; later she moved to Hilltop and Jefferson Place. Wilma enjoyed cleaning homes for others and considered this one of her hobbies. She liked to play games such as bingo, dominoes, and card games. She was always an avid reader.
Wilma was a lifelong member of Sully First Reformed Church, where she was active with the Martha Circle and the Cottage Prayer group. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile and kind heart. Wilma was a kind lady who loved and was loved by all.
Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, and her brothers and sisters: Jacob Veldhuizen, James Veldhuizen, Elsie Veldhuizen, Jeanette Veldhuizen, Harold Veldhuizen, Mabel Veldhuizen, Bessie Veldhuizen, Elmer Veldhuizen, and Irene Veldhuizen.
