Joyce Elaine Parker Still, 90, a resident of Hixson, Tenn., for more than 40 years, died Nov. 20, 2017, at the Life Care Center of Hixson, where she was surrounded by her children and grandchildren.

Joyce was born in Newton, Jan. 9, 1927, to the late Floyd and Obera Shaw Parker. She grew up on the farm her great-grandparents settled in the 1850s, along with her brother and many aunts, uncles and cousins. She graduated from Newton High School in 1945, and studied nursing at the University of Iowa. In 1946, she married her high school sweetheart, Roy L. Still, and they remained married for 60 years, until his death in 2007.

Joyce was also predeceased by her brother, Dorman Parker of Newton, who died in 1997.

Joyce is survived by her four daughters, Marcia Bledsoe of Knoxville, Tenn., Cindy Still of New Canaan, Conn., Jody McCorvie of Hixson, Tenn. and Debra Mann of Atlanta, Ga. She also leaves seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

A private memorial service and celebration of life will be Jan. 7 in Chattanooga. Burial will be at the Newton Union Cemetery in Newton, alongside her husband and parents.
