Esther Goodyk
January 3, 1924 ~ November 1, 2017 (age 93)

Esther Mae Goodyk was born January 3, 1924, to Hiram and Ruth (Morgon) Sutton, in Jasper County, Iowa. She passed away on November 1, 2017, at Jefferson Place in Pella.

Esther grew up in the Prairie City and Pleasant Hill area and attended the Pleasant Hill Community School where she graduated from 8th grade. Esther and her sister lived with her aunt in Pella after school and worked at the Overall Factory. She later worked at the Farmer’s Co-op egg plant and then at Pella Corporation for 30 years.

Esther was united in marriage to Cornelius “Case” Goodyk in February of 1947 at the United Methodist Church in Pleasant Hill. To this union they were blessed with three children: Darrell, Carol and John. After marriage, she became a member of Sully Chrisitan Reformed Church and later First Christian Reformed Church in Pella.

Esther enjoyed caring for her family, taking care of her home and having coffee with her friends. She also enjoyed working at the family gas station in Pella. She was a member of the American Legion, the Women’s Auxiliary and a volunteer for the Historical Society.

She is also survived by a sister-in-law Johanna Spikerman of Holland, Michigan.

Esther was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Eunice and Elvin Bensink, son-in-law Ed Jansen, great granddaughter Brooke Louise Goodyk and many brothers and sisters-in-law.
