September 9, 1937 - November 17, 2017

Richard "Rich" Donald Hausserman, 80, of Baxter, passed away on Friday, November 17, 2017 at Skiff Medical Center in Newton, Iowa. A visitation will be held on Monday, November 20, 2017 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Bethany United Church of Christ in Baxter. His funeral will be on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Bethany United Church of Christ with Reverend Teressa Clark officiating. Burial will follow in Restland Cemetery in Baxter, Iowa.

Rich was born on September 9, 1937 in Perry, Iowa to Donald and Violet (Jackson) Hausserman. His family relocated to Baxter and he attended Baxter schools and graduated from Baxter High School in 1956. After school he attended Central College for a year. A position opened at Dealers Warehouse Company in Newton and Rich joined their team. On August 7, 1959 he married Darlene Haak in Melbourne. The couple resided in Baxter and built the house that they still live in. Over the years Rich had a few different jobs within Dealers Warehouse but retired with the company in 1997 after over 35 years of service. He was a member of Bethany United Church of Christ, Baxter Masonic Lodge 520, Za-Ga-Zig Shrine, and the Iowa Trappers Association. Rich loved to spend time with his family, trapping, hunting, fishing, jigsaw puzzles, playing cards, and cribbage.

Those left to cherish his loving memory are his wife of 58 years Darlene Hausserman of Baxter, IA; son Terry (Diane) Hausserman of Boonville, NY; granddaughters Rebecca Hausserman of Liverpool, NY, and Rachel (Matt) Carpenter of Boonville, NY; sister-in-laws Mary (Carl) Onken, Charlene (Norman) Vansice, and Donella (Darrell) Ankrum; many nieces, nephews, and close friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Baxter Community Educational Scholarships.
