Dale E. Butcher “The Man of Steel", 71, of New Sharon, died on Tuesday, November 28, 2017, at Serenity House in Oskaloosa. A celebration of life will be held at 1:30 p.m., Sunday, December 3, at the Heart of Worship Church in Lynnville. Memorials to Dale’s family may be left at the funeral home.

Dale, the son of Joseph D. and Allie (Hicks) Butcher, was born on May 26, 1946 in New Sharon, Iowa. He grew up in New Sharon and lived in Iowa for most of his life. Dale was a self employed truck driver and also drove truck for Mannatts. On November 11, 2007, Dale was united in marriage with Tawny Willey in Montezuma. They lived in North Carolina for a number of years before returning to Iowa. Dale had a knack for telling stories and socializing. He never met a person that didn’t become a friend. He enjoyed tinkering and keeping everything in a neat and orderly fashion. Dale also wouldn’t leave the house without smelling his best. Dale was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandpa, great-grandpa, and friend.

Dale is survived by his wife, Tawny Butcher of New Sharon; daughter, Deneen (Wil) Hotchkin of Mesa, Arizona; son, Darell (Amy) Butcher of Altoona; step-daughter, Stacy (Ed) Hundley; step-son, Cody Agans; grandchildren, Jennifer (Eric) Davenport, Kiley (Josh) Ingle, Jordyn Butcher, Ethan Butcher, and Zoee Butcher; great-grandchild, Jaxstin Depoorter; step-grandchildren, Cassie Martin, Joey Martin, and Chris Hundley; step-great-grandchildren, Livia and Isla Davenport, Anthony Olivieri, Jayla and Miles Ingle; Megan and Bradyn; his sister, Zelda (LaVonne) Rauch of New Sharon and his brother, Randy Butcher of Oskaloosa.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Gertrude Schmidt; and his brothers, Dean Butcher, Ralph Butcher, and Farrell Butcher. ~ The Wallace Family Funeral Home, Newton, Iowa 28 Nov 2017.
