MONTICELLO, Iowa - Dave Francis McMahon, 41, of Monticello, formerly of Bernard, was found dead at home on Thursday, Aug. 5, 2004, following a sudden illness.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Garryowen, with the Rev. Xavier Dieter and the Rev. Thomas Bisenius officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8:30 p.m. today at Reiff Funeral Home, Cascade.
Mr. McMahon was an iron worker and pipe fitter. He worked at Star Mfg. in Monticello.
He was born on April 26, 1963, in Bernard, son of Daniel J. and Mary Lou (Carr) McMahon. He married Maureen Noonan on July 26, 1986, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Garryowen.
He received his education in the Western Dubuque Schools and was a 1981 graduate of Cascade High School.
He was a member of St. Patrick's Parish, Garryowen, the Andrew and Dubuque County Saddle Clubs and the Pipe Fitters Union 125.
He enjoyed his hobbies of hunting, fishing and mule riding.
Surviving are his former wife, Maureen McMahon, and two children, Emily and Ryan McMahon, all of Hiawatha; his mother, Mary Lou McMahon, of Bernard; eight brothers and sisters, Roseann (Steve) Rath, of Iowa City, Susan (Eric) Manternach and Lorrie (Mark) Meier, both of Cascade, Joe (Theresa) McMahon, of Battle Ground, Wash., Bill (Mary Lou) McMahon, of Farley, Jim (Cindy) McMahon, of Williamsburg, Dan (Colette) McMahon, of Cordova, Ill., and Larry (Colleen) McMahon, of Cedar Rapids; and his grandmother, Marie McMahon, of Cascade.
He was preceded in death by his father, Daniel J. McMahon, on June 28, 2003; and his grandparents, Albert McMahon and T.J. and Lucille Carr.
A Dave F. McMahon Memorial Fund has been established.
