OBITUARY
BOYD.
Orpha Jane Prentiss was born in Burlington, Vermont, April 16, 1829, and died at her home in Cresco, Iowa, January 9, 1917, at the age of 87 years 9 months and 23 days.
In 1848 she was married to George Eldridge who died three years later. To this union one child was born. In 1853 she was united in marriage to James Boyd who died June 23, 1889. To this union six children were born, four boys and two girls: William, who still lived with her, Charles who died in 1900, and Barney, of Mason City, Iowa, Ida Allen, Clara Henley and John, of Cresco, who were all with her at the last.
At the age of 16 she united with the Methodist Church of which she has been a faithful member until her death. She was afflicted with blindness for eight years and bore her affliction with the greatest patience and true faith. “A true wife and a loving mother.”
She leaves to mourn her departure of this life a number of near relatives, grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren and a host of friends. Her burial was in Oak Lawn and was conducted by Rev. J. A. Pettit.
