In Response To: Rebecca Guyton Mitts (Ruth Rasch)

Joseph Keesecker married Elizabeth Rebecca Guyton on August 15, 1844 in Clark County, Ohio. She had two children with her second husband, ? Crouch. They were Dora Ann and Ellen. Dora Ann was born probably in Ohio on August 15, 1858 and Ellen about 1860 probably in Ohio. Dora Ann married David McBeth in Henry County, Iowa on March 14, 1878 and Ellen married Leroy Ford on December 12, 1878 in Henry County and died on July 11, 1879 also in Henry County.

The following obituaries for Rebecca and for Dora give a little information, some of which is probably inaccurate. For example, Dora was probably not born in Mount Pleasant. But they do give the clue that perhaps Mr. Crouch was named John. It also says that Rebecca survived three husbands, implying that husband Crouch died and they were not divorced.

Mrs. Rebecca Guiton Mitts was born in Clark County, Ohio in 1823 and was 84 years, one month and 17 days old at the time of her death. Mrs. Mitts was married to her first husband, Joseph Keeseker, in Ohio in the year 1844. After nine years Mr. Keeseker died in 1853, leaving his wife and five children to mourn their loss. These children are as follows: Mrs. L. N. Dunlap and George Keeseker of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, Mrs. E. J. Waltman of Ohio, Mrs. Mary Snapps of Carlisle, Indiana and Joseph Keeseker of Columbus, Ohio, all of whom still live to survive their mother. Mrs. Mitts was married to her second husband about the year 1858 of which union Mrs. Dora McBeth of Nebraska is the only surviving child. Mrs. Mitts then came to Iowa about the year 1870, and after two years was married to James Mitts. She has survived all three of her husbands. Mrs. Mitts has twenty-four grandchildren. She united with the Methodist church in her childhood and has remained a faithful member through her long life.

Funeral services for Mrs. Dora McBeth, who died last Wednesday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. W. E. Rasch, at North Bend, were held from the Scotia Methodist church Saturday afternoon at two under the direction of the pastor, Rev. N. B. Callaway. The Register joins with the friends in extending sympathy to the bereaved ones.

Dora Ann Crouch was born to John and Elizabeth Crouch at Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, on August 16, 1858. She departed this life on July 3, 1935 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Florence Rasch of North Bend, Nebraska, at the age of 76 years, 10 months, and 18 days. She was united in marriage to David McBeth in March, 1878. For a time they made their home at Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. They later moved to Wymore, Nebraska, where they lived until 1902 when they moved to Scotia. To this union was born eleven children, seven of whom with their father preceded their mother in death. Mrs. McBeth became a member of the Methodist church of Scotia in July, 1911. She was also a member of the order of the Royal Neighbors. She leaves to mourn her loss four children, Mrs. L. A. Drake of Ozone, Arkansas; Evan McBeth of Horace, Nebraska; Mont McBeth, whose address is unknown; and Mrs. W. E. Rasch of North Bend, Nebraska; nineteen grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren, together with a host of friends.
