I am looking for information about Joseph Charles Morehead who was an orphan, born in Philadelphia PA, in 1843 and came to Iowa at age 12 in 1855. It is possible that he was either adopted or "farmed out". Family tradition states that there were 6 brothers, all sons of Andrew Morehead and Ann McKay, who were orphaned by mother's death and father's inability to care for the boys. It is not known whether any of his siblings also came to Iowa. No PA records have been found.
