I am interested in finding the early Methodist church records in Johnson County, Iowa. Some of my Reynolds ancestors were named Wesley, Asbury and one was a Missouri minister. I was told there was an early Wesleyan Episcopal seminary in Warrenton, Missoui and after the tornado, fire and financial problems it merged with German College of Mt. Pleasant under the name of Central Wesleyan College and German Theological Seminary.I have a cemetery in Newport twp, Johnson County Iowa established in 1853.We know from the plat map that the church stood south and east of the cemetery. We have a lot of early church records(1850's)for Johnson county, but nothing on that particular church. A lot of the Reynolds settled around Drakesville. But that Missouri minister can't be found.I thought if I could come up with some old Methodist information I could answer both questions.
