DWIGHT F. HEWITT

Dwight Frank Hewitt, age 82, of Crawfordsville, died Sunday, January 16, 2000 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. The son of Merritt and Mary (Bentley) Hewitt, he was born September 5, 1917 at Morning Sun. He married Laurel Wilson, who survives.

He was a graduate of Fremont High School in Los Angeles, CA. He began his career with Douglas Aircraft Company and retired in 1970 from McDonnel-Douglas Company, Inc.

Survivors include his wife of Crawfordsville; four daughters: Loretta Smith, Linda Firpo, and Laurie Sherman, all of California; Sheridan Hewitt of Oregon; three sons, Michael, Scott, and Jay Hewitt, all of California; 17 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; four sisters, Thelma, Lorraine, Rhea, and Donna. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Leland and Bentley.

According to his wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral services. A graveside service was held at the Elmwood Cemetery at Morning Sun on Wednesday, January 19, 2000 at 10:30 A.M. with Rev. Jack Edmisson officiating. A memorial has been established for the Diabetes Association.

Hagele and Honts Funeral Home of Morning Sun was in charge of the arrangements.
