Warren Graber 1921 - 2005

Warren Graber, 84 of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, died suddenly, Tuesday, August 23, 2005, at the Henry County Health Center.

Visitation will begin after 12:00 noon on Friday at the Olson - Powell Memorial Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday evening. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the Sugar Creek Mennonite Church in Wayland. Burial will be in the North Hill Cemetery. Memorials have been established to the Parkview Home and the Sugar Creek Mennonite Church.

Born April 30, 1921, near Noble, Iowa, Warren was the son of Henry and Elsie Wenger Graber. He attended and graduated from Wayland High School in 1938. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Davis on June 23, 1946, at the Olds Congregational Church. They celebrated 59 years of marriage this year. Dorothy survives.

In earlier years, Warren operated a cream route for 14 years and later farmed near Wayland. After moving to Mt. Pleasant in 1957, he worked for 20 years as a wireman at General Electric in Burlington, Iowa, from which he retired in 1983. After Warren’s retirement, the Grabers lived in El Paso, Texas, for ten years and then returned to Mt. Pleasant in 1993, where they have lived ever since.

Warren gave his heart to the Lord at an early age and was a member of the First Baptist Church. He loved being a good father and thoroughly enjoyed time with his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed traveling, which he did a lot while living in Texas. He will be dearly missed by his family.

Along with his wife, Warren is survived by three sons, Robert of Castaic, California, Gary of Seattle, Washington, and Ron of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa and three grandchildren, Carly, Renee, and Glen Graber, all of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa.

Warren was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Dorothy Tidwell and Anna Mae Huffer.
