Winfield Beacon/Wayland News – 8/11/1983

Funeral services for Emerson Wittrig, 74, were held from the Finley Chapel of the United Methodist Church on Thursday, August 4, 1983, 1:30 P.M. with the Rev. Rick Dunn in charge. Music was by organist, Belle Smith and by a string quartet made up of grandchildren of the deceased. Casket bearers were Carl Seberg, Glen Seberg, Donald Nicholson, Freddie Moor, Lester Wilson and Lester McGohan. Honorary bearers were Ketih Brimhall, Bernard K. Bates, Irvin Mohr, Guy Eubank, Arnold Nicholson. Interment was in the Fern Cliff Evangelical Free Church Cemetery with music by The Singing Grandpas.

A memorial has been establish for Halycon House, Good Samaritan Fund. Arrangements were by Beatty Funeral Home of Wayland.

Mr. Wittrig passed away Sunday July 31 at Mt. Vernon, Illinois, while on a bus tour.
