Final rites were held for Simon Peter Wyse, Sunday February 26, 1950 at 1:30 from his home and at 2:00 at the Sugar Creek Church with the Revs Simon Gingerich and Vernon Roth in charge.

An octet consisting of Donna Horst, Bernice Wenger, Aldine Meyer, Ruth Rediger, Mahlon Wyse, Daniel Leichty, Duwain Hirschy and Edwin Freyenberger sang. The casket bearers included Ray Wyse, Lester Krabill, Henry Graber, Arthur Boshart, Clarence Wyse, and Harvey Eicher. Interment was made in the Sugar Creek Cemetery. The Stacy Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Wyse farmed in the Wayland community for a number of years and continued to live on their farm after retirement several years ago when his health began to fail. He had not been confined until lately and was taken to the Burlington Hospital where he remained about a week before passing.

OBITUARY;

Simon P. Wyse, oldest son of Christian and Fannie Roth Wyse, was born on a farm south of Wayland, Iowa January 30, 1867 and departed this life at the Mercy Hospital, Burlington, Iowa, Feb. 23, 1950 age 83 years and 24 days. Death was caused by a heart ailment and complications.

On Feb. 1, 1893 he was united in marriage with Caroline Eicher of Noble Iowa and together they shared the joys and sorrows of life for 57 years. This union was blessed with 2 sons and 2 daughters: Fred L. of Wauseon, Ohio, Oletta M. at home; Leonard R. of Mt. Pleasant, Route 5; Alta, Mrs. T. W. Stewart, of San Diego California.

He accepted Christ in his savior in his youth and united with the Eicher Mennonite Church later transferring his membership to the Sugar Creek Church in Wayland where he remained a faithful member until death. His quiet, unassuming nature won for him many friends. Those left to mourn are his wife, two sons, two daughters, three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, two half-sisters Mary Mast and Mrs. C. J. Freyenberger both of Wayland, besides many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, stepfather, one grandson, two brothers, two sisters, and two half-brothers.
