Simon Gingerich and Rev. Zook. She was buried beside her parents in the Sugar Creek cemetery. Frank Nebel, Ray Wyse, Glen, Dale, Kermit, and Dennis Klopfenstein acted as pallbearers.

Mrs. Leichty was a kind and helpful neighbor, a good and faithful member of the church and will be greatly missed by those who knew her.

OBITUARY:

Lydia (Klopfenstein) Leichty, daughter of Christian and Mary (Wenger) Klopfenstein, was born in Washington County, Iowa on November 11, 1865. She was converted when about fourteen years of age and united with the Amish Mennonite church and was a consistent and faithful member of the Sugar Creek congregation near Wayland where she held her membership continuously from her baptism until her death.

On February 3, 1910, she was united in marriage with Benjamin Leichty and thus became the foster mother to her husband’s five sons. This gave her an opportunity to exercise the true Christian mother’s spirit of sacrifice and devotion which seemed to dominate her life. Two of her foster sons preceded her in death.

Her last sickness was of short duration, having suffered a paralytic stroke. She fell peacefully asleep at 8:30 in the evening of December 10, 1931 at the age of 66 years and 29 days.

She leaves her husband, three foster sons, six foster grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Joseph Nebel of Wayland, Iowa; two brothers, Ed Klopfenstein of Wayland, Iowa and many other relatives and friends to mourn their loss.
