Sadie Ballard was born in Wapello County, Iowa, May 24, 1877 and died at her home in Wayland, Iowa at the age of 51 years, 1 month, and 9 days. She was the daughter of Rev. William T. and Barbara Ballard who, for many years, rendered a faithful and efficient service in the ministry of the United Brethren church.

The deceased was united in marriage to J. N. McClintic October 12, 1898 in Seymour, Iowa. To this union three children were born, Roy E., Mabel H., and Harry N., all of Wayland.

She leaves to mourn their loss her husband, three children, and one grandchild, John Douglas McClintic; also three brothers, Henry of Pleasant Plain, Iowa, Edward of Blakesburg, Iowa, and Charles of Wayland, Iowa, and one sister, Mrs. Etta Glassburner of Washington, Iowa. There are also several nephews and nieces and a host of friends who mourn her departure.

Mrs. McClintic united with the Cottonwood U.B. church when she was sixteen years of age and continued in that fellowship until death released her for higher service.
“Sunset and evening star
And one clear call for me,
And may there be no moaning of the bar
When I put out to sea.

Twilight and evening bell,
And after that the dark---
And may there be no sadness of farewell
When I embark.

For though from out our borne of time and place
The flood may bear me far,
I hope to meet my pilot face to face
When I have crossed the bar.”
