Joseph Roth, son of Joseph K. and Elizabeth Christner Roth was born in Jefferson County, Iowa on January 7, 1863 and passed from this life at the home of his sister, Mrs. Barbara Graber, about 8:30 P.M. August 6, 1949 aged 86 years and 7 months.

He had lived practically all of his life in and near Wayland and Trenton communities for the last several years having made his home with his sister, Mrs. Barbara Graber of near Trenton, and occasionally with his sister, Mrs. Fannie Emsminger of Rome, Iowa.

Early in his life he was fellowshipped in the Sugar Creek Mennonite Church near Wayland.

The immediate relatives of the deceased are the two sisters, Mrs. Barbara Graber and Mrs. Fannie Ensminger. Brothers and sisters who preceded him in death are : Ben Anna, Jake, Chris, Peter, Dan, Mrs. Susie Schlarbaum, and Mrs. Elizabeth Roth Buck.

His was a life of long helpfulness and service to those about him whom he found to be in need, and a host of relatives and friends are left to mourn his passing.
