Emma Gerig Blosser, daughter of the late Bishop Sebastian and Magdalena (Goldsmith) Gerig, was born near Wayland Iowa 2/27/1887 and passed to her eternal home 1/16/1953 aged 65 years 10 months and 19 days. Her entire life was spent in this community, living at her birthplace at the time of her passing. Her health has been failing for a number of years but her hope was in the Risen Savior with whom she longed to be. This hope has now been realized.

In her youth she accepted Christ as her Savior and united with the Sugar Creek Mennonite Church to which she has given faithful and active service. On Nov 25 1909 she was united in marriage to Abraham D. Blosser. To this union were born four sons, Virgil, Dennis, and LaVerne of Wayland and Marvin of Yellow Springs, Ohio., Also surviving are one daughter-in-law Mrs. Virgil Blosser. And five grandchildren; one brother and six sisters; Mrs. Lydia Eigsti of Morton, Illinois, Jacob Gerig, Mrs. Elizabeth Roth, Mrs. Anna Wyse, Mrs. Mollie Orendorff, Mrs. Eva Leichty, and Mrs. Minnie Sutter all of Wayland, besides a host of other relatives and friends. Two brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.

She was a devoted wife and mother and will be greatly missed by her companion and those nearest her. She had initiative and a willingness to serve, no matter how great or small the task. Even during the last years of declining health, her hands were seldom idle and many were blessed as a result of her handiwork.
