OBITUARY: Mt. Pleasant News; Tuesday Jan. 10, 1995 - pg. 10

Mrs. Lorene C. Ross, 88, formerly of Mt. Union, died Tuesday, Jan 10,1995, at 1:05 P.M. at the Edinburg General Hospital in Edinburg, Texas.

Born August 2, 1906 in Trenton, she was the daughter of Stacy and Etta Bates Carper. On October 16, 1929, in Mt. Pleasant, she married Emmet(Rusty) Ross, who preceded her in death August 1, 1980.

She was a member of the Mt. Union United Methodist Church, the Mt. Union United Methodist Women, and the Iowa Chapter of U of T.T.T. She taught school for seven years and was a deputy Henry County auditor from 1948 until 1973.

She is survived by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Donald Carper and Philip Carper.

Open visitation will be from 9 A.M. to 8 P.M. Friday at the Beatty Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. There will be no family visitation. Funeral services will be Saturday, Jan. 14 at 11 A.M. at the Beatty Funeral Home with the Revs. Lloyd Latta and Tom Zeleny officiating. Interment will be in the Green Mound Cemetery. The family will receive friends for lunch and fellowship at the Trenton Methodist Church following committal service. A memorial fund has been established to the Green Mound Cemetery.
