Obituary: (From Nov. 6, 1942 Waterloo Daily Courier, Waterloo, Iowa)

Mrs. Lydia E. Miller, a Waterloo resident for 24 years, died at 8:10 PM Thursday in the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. B. Harper, 36 E. Parker Street, after a long illness. She was 67 years old. She had been ill for several years and bedfast for 11 months. Born May 17, 1875 at Wayland, Iowa as Lydia Garick, she was the daughter of Chris and Barbara Garick. She was married to Jacob R. Miller May 13, 1896. He died in 1900 at Wayland, Iowa. Mrs. Miller had lived in the Harper residence about 20 years. She came here from Wayland. Surviving are a son Earl G. Miller, LaSalle, Ill.; the daughter Mrs. Harper; three brothers Chris Garick, Olds, Iowa; Joseph Garick, Washington, Iowa; and John Garick, Wayland and 3 sisters, Mrs. Lena McClintic and Mrs. Anna Barr, both of Wayland, and Mrs. Mary Davidson, Coppock, Iowa. There are also 4 grandchildren. Mrs. Miller was a member of the Walnut St. Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 PM at Walnut St. Baptist Church with Rev. R. T. Ketcham, pastor, in charge. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. The body will remain at the Kearns Chapel until time of services.
