Mrs. Joseph Kramer Is Called Home
The following taken from the Bulington Gazette of Monday evening tells of the death of a former resident of our town. Mrs. Joe Kramer, known to most of our citizens and to a larger number over in the Spring Run neighborhood. Where her girlhood was spent.
Mrs. Joseph Kramer, Mother of A.R, Kramer vice president of W.D Hann& Co. of this city died at two A.M. Saturday at the home of her daughter, Mrs Howard Griffith of Muscatine, IA.
Matilda Brewer was born in Pennsylvania May 20, 1853 coming to Iowa with her parents in 1857 where she grew to womanhood. At the age of 17, she became an active member of the Evangelical church. She was married March 23,1857 to Joseph Kramer who survives her.
Besides her husband she is survived by four sons. Al Kramer, of Burlington: Guy H. Kramer Los Angeles: William J. Kramer of Noble IA., and David C. Kramer of Oklahoma City; Three daughters Mrs. Anna Moody of Davenport; Mrs. Kathryn Gabriel of Ft. Dodge and Mrs. Bertha Griffith of Muscatine, one sister Mrs. John Hall; twenty three grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. One daughter Mrs. Nelle Bloyd preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held at the First Methodist Church in Columbus Junction Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock with burial in Columbus City Cemetery.
And thus another very faithful companion and indulgent mother a kind and considerate neighbor and friend has passed from the land of the living into that other country that mortals speculate on as to its boundries.
Mrs. Kramer with her husband and family resied here until the boys went to Burlington to attend business college and she went with them to give them a mother's care and finally they changed their home from Winfield to Burlington, where it has been for several years. The deceaced was a home loving woman and her greatest delight was in making home a pleasant place for her family.
The Beacon extends to the lonely husband and to the children and intimate friends our sympathy of the old neighbors and friends.
