THE PASSING OF B. F. YOUNT
Aged Citizen Passed Away At His Home On North Lincoln St.
78 Years Of Age.
Has Been in Ill Health For Some Time Recently Sustaining A Fourth Paralytic Stroke - Came To County in 1847.

On Tuesday, September 15, 1914, Mr. Benjamin Franklin Yount, long known as a resident of Henry county, passed away at his home, 1106 Lincoln street, Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, after suffering a fourth stroke of paralysis. He was the oldest son of Charles G. and Mary Yount, and was born in Putnam county, Ind., May 29, 1836 [sic: May 31, 1835?]. He came with his parents to Henry county in 1847. They settled on a farm northwest of this city where deceased lived for fifty-six years, removing to this city about eleven years ago. His home has been here ever since. He was one of a family of six. One brother, Thomas Jefferson Yount of Alexandria, Ind., survives. August 5, 1858 Mr. Yount and Miss Elizabeth Farmer, daughter of Lewis W. and Mary Farmer, were united in marriage. Eight children, all of whom survive, were born to them. They are Mary Ellen Flint, Batavia, Ia.; Lewis T. Yount, Kansas City, Mo.; Nancy J. Griffin, Houston, Texas; Rebecca A. Miller, Mt. Pleasant, Ia.; Charles F. Yount, Los Angeles, Cal.; Anna P. Wilson, Agency, Ia.; Isaac I. Yount, Wayland, Ia., and Cora E. Steier [sic], Mt. Pleasant. Twenty-three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren also remain.

Mr. Yount united with the Primitive Baptist church in 1858. He was baptized by Elder James Gilmore. At the time of his death he had been ..... years a deacon in that church. He was also justice of the peace for two terms.

His wife dying March 17, 1900, he was married to Mrs. Mary J. Byrum, October 2, 1901. She survives.

Deceased had a great many friends in this county. For the past two or three years his life, owing to the infirmities of age and illness, has been a quiet one.

Funeral services will be held at the home, conducted by Frank E. Weston, pastor of the First Baptist church, at 10:00 o'clock, Thursday morning. Friends and neighbors are invited. Interment will be in Oak Grove cemetery.
